New WISKA highlights at SMM

18.08.2022

At this year's SMM, WISKA is presenting several new products from its in-house development. The WISKA innovations and other products from the range can be found in Hall B6, Stand B6.212.

Within its constantly growing range of technical lighting products, the company is presenting the new non-metallic LED multi-purpose luminaire 4010 with a luminous flux of 1,200 up to 7,200 lm and a lifetime of 100,000 hours. In addition to the long standard version with 775 mm, there is also a short version with only 495 mm. The high-performance lighting, optionally also with battery back-up, is corrosion-free and easy to install. It is ideally suited for use on car ferries, among others.

With the new LED searchlight, WISKA extends its existing range with a LED version. Its casing adds a complete new development to the familiar WISKA octagonal design. It can be used as a searchlight or floodlight and offers two times 18,000 lm. The new product features endless rotation, stepless speed control, a home and booster function and can be used at minus 25 °C to plus 45 °C. The LED innovations are rounded off by a new high-lumen output version of the floodlight 5000.

The new CCTV camera series also offers a new design: The new camera station can be rotated 360° endlessly thanks to its newly developed pan-tilt unit, while its variant as a fixed camera housing is fixly installed. With a new compact design without external cables and with an internal connection compartment, the new series replaces the entire previous WISKA stainless steel series.

WISKA will also be showing in its new COMBI 304 MAR series a junction box and a rotary switch at SMM. "In the area of installation material, our new COMBI 304 box brings along our many years of experience in non-metallic installation material from various industrial sectors. The two-component injection moulding made of polypropylene and TPE convinces at IP66/67 rating and is manufactured in our factory. Supplemented by its variant as a rotary switch, our 304 has what it takes to deliver a real alternative to the previous HNA products made of brass," says Ronald Hoppmann, WISKA General Manager, adding "We are very pleased to finally be back at SMM and to talk with our guests."

WISKA presents polyamide EMC locknut

06.11.2020

Particularly in the industrial environment, with increasingly complex technologies, there is a large number of components that must be effectively protected against electromagnetic interference. For cable entry, there are various solutions, mostly as earthing inserts or braids used in metal cable gland fittings. With its new MagikNUT, WISKA now presents a solution which easily establishes the cable shield contact via the locknut.

The MagikNUT is a new polyamide EMC locknut with an integrated stainless steel clip. The EMC installation is easy and quick: The approx. 1 cm stripped off shielded cable is contacted by the claws of the stainless steel clip within the locknut. In addition to the considerably simplified shield contacting, the MagikNUT polyamide design also enables a simple EMC solution for plastic cable glands: The user benefits from maximum flexibility, from standard cable glands to threaded membrane entries and conduit fittings for cable protection. The new WISKA locknut is lightweight, available in M16, M20 and M25 and black or grey. All information on wiska.com.

WISKA: Contactless body temperature measurement via CCTV

29.05.2020

Industrial and shipbuilding supplier responds to current safety requirements

WISKA extends its range of video surveillance products with a body temperature measuring solution. The supplier has already installed the dual camera with thermal and daylight vision function, including blackbody, in the reception area of its German headquarters - a computer and monitor provides the image results.

"Security through CCTV video surveillance is part of our daily work, so it was only logical for us to start right here especially with the need for increase safety measures in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. With the new camera solution, we are able to meet the protection requirements for guests and employees exceeding the required social distance measures, contact-free but with AI-precise accuracy at +/- 0.3°C," says Ronald Hoppmann, WISKA General Manager.

For indoor applications, a distance of 3 meters is required between the camera and blackbody. The blackbody is the device used to measure and reference the temperature. An individuals forehead temperature is measured with high efficiency and in real time – at different distances depending on the product version. The unit can measure up to 15 people simultaneously; this makes the solution equally suitable for low to high traffic areas. Measurements are reliable even when wearing a mask and result messages can be supported by an integrated alarm management. WISKA only displays, does not store or process the data generated - all legal requirements are met.

"The safety requirements have increased across all areas – that is why we are now thinking of new applications for our products. In particular, video surveillance offers unexpected possibilities, from body temperature measurement to fully automated mask recognition to access control in high traffic areas, there are hardly any limits to development - certainly also for the maritime industry. And best of all: These solutions can be seamlessly integrated into our existing CCTV networks," explains Rico Feldmann, Director Business Unit CCTV at WISKA. With their digital video systems, WISKA offers internationally certified solutions for a wide range of applications, from outdoor to indoor, night vision and explosion protection to searchlight combinations. New junction boxes from WISKA

20.05.2020

With two new junction boxes, WISKA is expanding its COMBI range and strengthening its position in the plastic junction box sector.

With the COMBI 304 junction box, WISKA is not only introducing a new size box within its popular COMBI® series, but also a new design: The COMBI 304 is the first circular COMBI box with a diameter of 82 mm, 57 mm high and, especially in its standard colour black, is also ideally suited for use in architectural and retro design projects. The rotary switch version of the 304 perfectly rounds off the design aspiration of the 304 enclosure. The 304 offers 4 M20 threaded membrane entries, which can be used with the cable directly entered through the membrane (IP66) or via WISKA cable gland (IP67), with their conduit fittings (BraceFITTING) or rigid conduit fittings (KRASM). The flat lid of the new box can be closed as a bayonet cap with only a quarter turn; two external mounting lugs with a distance of 90 mm allow for convenient installation.

In addition to the 304, the new and largest WISKA COMBI box 1610 (200x160x94 mm) also expands the range - and is available as a high-quality junction box with cable diameters up to 16 mm² for electrical installation, automation and industry, e.g. also for CCTV and Wifi interfaces and repeaters. With its high protection class IP66/67 and the high-quality plastic injection moulding, the box is UV and ozone resistant like all of its series and therefore ideally suited for indoor and outdoor use. Cable entry with the 1610 is via up to 30 knockout entries from M20 to M40; options such as a clear cover or closed sides are available. Full information on wiska.com.

100 years – One team: Big celebration on WISKA centenary

10.10.2019

WISKA, the German supplier for industry, trade and shipbuilding, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. On this occasion, over 500 national and international guests from 35 countries, comprising partners, representatives from the world of politics, economy, the press as well as employees came to Hamburg´s Fischauktionshalle.

Like the entire anniversary year, the evening was held under the motto “100 Years - One Team”, placing the focus of attention on those who have made the company successful: its customers, partners and employees.

‘I am delighted that so many guests have come to celebrate our centenary together with us in our founding city of Hamburg. On this evening we would like to thank all our business customers, partners, and current and former employees. We have achieved a lot together and stuck together through thick and thin. That has made our bonds strong. We are proud of these good relationships. You appreciate them when everything goes smoothly – and even more when a problem arises.’, said Ronald Hoppmann, who is the third generation of the family to run the company together with his sister Tanja Hoppmann. And also some of Hamburg´s celebrities and guests from industry´s associations took the chance to congratulate the company, among them, Michael Ziesemer, President of ZVEI German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers´ Association, Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO of Hamburg Messe + Congress GmbH, Marcell Jansen, President of the Hamburger SV, and Ian Karan, Hamburg Entrepreneur and former senator for economic affairs. Karan was, together with the Schotstek foundation, donation partners for WISKA, to allow for investments into the next generations rather than gifts to the company. The Karan foundation emphasizes on language training for migrant children. “We are very proud, that with our guests of only this evening, we managed to collect over 20 thousand Euro for both foundations.”, Tanja Hoppmann added.

In keeping with the team spirit, there was a special highlight for the guests: puppets up to five metres tall comprising a net of fibres and light, which were brought to life by the puppeteer ensemble “Dundu”, walked through the hall and interacted with the guests. Each puppet requires five puppeteers to move it. This symbolises the fact that individuals are always a part of a whole.

Even the site itself, the Hamburg Fischauktionshalle, is a very meaningful location for WISKA: with a direct view on the Blohm+Voss shipyard. The shipyard in which the founder of the company Wilhelm Hoppmann worked as a designing engineer before he set up his own business with his friend Hermann Mulsow in 1919. The two founded a special factory in Hamburg producing ship installation material made of brass. At that time, most probably neither of them suspected that 100 years later WISKA would be an internationally successful company with a total of six subsidiaries worldwide.

Investment in the future: WISKA builds new company headquarters outside Hamburg, Germany, on 36,500 square metres

03.09.2019

Kaltenkirchen, 2. September 2019 – Project partners, representatives from the town of Kaltenkirchen, mayor Hanno Krause and WISKA General Manager Ronald Hoppmann all took part in the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of the construction work for the company’s new headquarters in Kaltenkirchen, 30 km north of Hamburg. The first phase of construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

‘With this new building, we are laying a foundation stone for the future, further development and long-term growth. I am particularly pleased that we can celebrate this special milestone in the year of our 100th anniversary’, says Ronald Hoppmann, who is the third generation of his family to manage the company along with his sister Tanja Hoppmann.

The 36,500 sq. m space will comprise of state-of-the-art logistics and production areas, office space and quality control areas. The first construction phase will focus largely on the building of the logistics and production facilities, which are to commence operation as early as 2021 and will enable WISKA to expand its capacity in this area by 50 per cent.

‘It is good for Kaltenkirchen and the region that the family-run company WISKA continues to invest in the future even after 50 years in this location. With this 36,500 sq. m plot they have found the right place for expanding their production and logistics facilities. The example of WISKA shows how important it is for the town to provide commercial land’, says Hanno Krause, mayor of Kaltenkirchen.

The new building has been planned and designed to ensure optimal material flows. It impresses with a significantly higher level of automation and digitalisation, both in logistics and in manufacturing. This will enable WISKA to establish completely new processes and considerably increase the level of service they offer to their customers.

‘By integrating cutting-edge software solutions into the warehouse and production areas and with the help of automated processes, we will be able to manufacture and ship individual customer orders on the same day. This underpins our claim of guaranteeing our customers constant high availability of our products across our entire product range. We will be able to be a lot more transparent about the shipping status of our goods, similar to what you see in the e-commerce segment. When you look at it in this way, we are constructing this building very much with the interests of our customers in mind’, explains Björn Heyna, Supply Chain Management and project manager for the new building at WISKA.

The building has been designed to ensure it can be further developed over the next 30 years. The overall concept will ensure that the separate WISKA sites of today, which are two km apart as the crow flies, can be merged together to form one German headquarters in the new location. This will be implemented over the course of further construction phases in the coming years.

‘With this new building, WISKA will be absolutely future-proof. The concept provides sufficient scope for us to develop in line with the market at a later date and adapt time and again whenever the framework conditions change. The building “breathes” with customer needs, regardless of whether this means that an even broader product portfolio, larger batch sizes or processes that integrate business partners are required. Overall, we will be quicker, more flexible and able to offer even more quality’, says Heyna.

100 years of WISKA: from a specialist factory to a multi-solutions supplier

01.04.2019

Kaltenkirchen, 02. May 2019 - The German supplier for shipbuilding, industry and trade is celebrating its 100th anniversary

In 1919, an engineer at the shipyard Blohm+Voss and his friend set up their own business: a specialist factory for the production of ship installation materials made of brass in Hamburg: Hoppmann & Mulsow. In a conversation between the two founders Wilhelm Hoppmann and Hermann Mulsow, the idea of the name WISKA is born – as an abbreviation of the German “wasserdichte isolierstoffgekapselte Kabelarmaturen” (waterproof insulated cable fittings), becoming the company name from then on. This year, the family-run business celebrates its 100th anniversary.

‘Throughout the WISKA history, we have walked new paths and been a benchmark for individual solutions. Starting with the founders, who laid the foundation for our approach with the idea of manufacturing products to meet the extreme demands at sea – right up until the present day’, says the grandson of company founder Ronald Hoppmann, who is now the third generation of the family to run the business alongside his sister Tanja Hoppmann.

In 1919, the founders of WISKA saw an opportunity to manufacture cost-efficiently switches, sockets and junction boxes made of robust brass in series production which met the requirements of the merchant ship standards committee (HNA) that was founded two years earlier.

Today, the family-run company employs 210 people in Germany and 50 in international subsidiaries. At the headquarters outside Hamburg WISKA develops searchlights, floodlights, reefer container sockets and CCTV video surveillance systems in addition to a wide variety of installation materials that are used worldwide. The material of choice is increasingly plastic. In WISKA’s own production facility, thirty injection moulding machines work in several shifts, ten of which use the two-component injection moulding process.

In order to deliver the highest quality, WISKA controls the entire supply chain itself, from development to delivery, everything is in one hand. "In order to continue to offer high-quality products "Made in Germany" in the future, we want to invest in our Kaltenkirchen location, expand production and internationally strengthen our sales structure and our subsidiaries," says Ronald Hoppmann.

Highlights at their “Heimspiel”: WISKA® presents product novelties at SMM

04.09.2018

Hamburg, 4 September – At SMM, the world´s leading trade fair for the maritime industry, in Hamburg, the supplier for trade, industries and shipbuilding presents product novelties in the fields of reefer container sockets, CCTV video surveillance, lighting and cable entries.

Driven by their ideas and exhibits of product intelligence for lighting and reefer sockets, WISKA® also wants to discuss possible applications of these in maritime surroundings.

“As a company founded in Hamburg, we have been exhibiting at SMM for decades – and each time are more than happy to do so. We like to see partners, showcase new products and keep in touch about future and current maritime subjects. Exhibiting here at SMM in Hamburg, always feels like a `Heimspiel´ for us, which is the German word for “home game”.”, says WISKA® General Manager Ronald Hoppmann. And at this year´s SMM, the company presents several new product highlights.

The VARITAIN® reefer container socket range is famous for meeting most individual demands on board. And now it has been extended by two new spacesavers. The new VARITAIN® PushIn Rack (pic. 1) has been designed in upright position to offer a maximum of reefer connections on the same space. The sockets are designed with a 45° angle to ensure a space-saving product and safe installation. The Advance version (pic. 2) of the PushIn Rack further has an external power connection and the smallest housing of the VARITAIN® series.

„The external powerport significantly simplifies installation as the main power supply is very comfortable to connect. The risk of damages is minimised, because the housing´s lid can stay closed during the whole installation process.“, Ronald Hoppmann explains.

Also the video surveillance range has been extended: WISKA® showcases a new Plastic PTZ IP Dome Camera D100 (pic. 3) for maritime applications at SMM. Also, the camera range has been extended with explosion-proof and nightvision products. This also helps to increase safety and security on board.

When it comes to lighting, the LED Floodlight 5000 is undoubtedly one of their major highlights (pic. 4). It is ideally suited for applications under extreme weather conditions at sea, as it is heat- conductive and corrosion-free due to its special modular design of high-quality plastic modules and stainless steel housing. To meet different lighting requirements, the floodlights is now also available with “narrow” and “wide beam” lens types.

The cable entries range of WISKA® newly also comprises a comprehensive cable protection range with metallic and non-metallic fittings and conduits. Together with the WISKA® typical junction boxes, they cover the majority of electrical installation on board and are also presented at SMM.

Goals, team spirit, football fever: WISKA kicks off its first Business Cup

04.07.2018

Football connects, as the supplier for the electrical trade, industry and shipbuilding, WISKA from Kaltenkirchen, found when it invited customers and partners to attend the first WISKA Business Cup. A total of eight companies from the electrical trades and wholesalers as well as international sales partners from England, Ireland and the Netherlands kicked a ball around in style in front of the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg to win their very own trophy. Teams applied in advance to take part via the WISKA lottery.

‘Achieving good figures with customers and partners is important, but it is even more important to know each other well. This not only makes our work more successful, but also simply makes it more fun to spend time together’, says WISKA Managing Director Ronald Hoppmann, who is the third generation of the family to manage the company together with his sister Tanja Hoppmann.

The joy of playing and the fun that was had also inspired former HSV professional, current DFB sports director and coach of the women's national team Horst Hrubesch. The former international came as a surprise guest and was enthusiastic about the mood of everyone involved.

It was also Hrubesch who presented the Cup to the winners of the tournament, the team from electrical wholesaler Hillmann & Ploog. Second and third places went to the two teams from WISKA Germany. The top scorer of the day was Callum Wilson from Team WISKA UK.

Even after the award ceremony, the atmosphere remained relaxed. ‘We do it like the pros. On the pitch, we’re united by our enthusiasm for sporting competition and off the pitch, we're inspired by working together’, summarises Hoppmann, adding: ‘We're delighted that many young players have also taken part in the guest teams – because the promotion of young talent is particularly important to us as a family company. Not only at WISKA itself, but also in our home region at Hamburger SV, which enabled us to host this event at the stadium.

And because football fever works up an appetite, the teams went on to a Hamburg beach club after the tournament, where the eventful day ended with a relaxed barbecue by the Elbe. The following day, all the guests got the opportunity to get to know WISKA on site in Kaltenkirchen – from development and production to the laboratory. The new edition of the popular “WISKA box” presented this March, one of the latest WISKA highlights, was essential viewing, not least as a result of the direct cooperation with craftspeople who were hugely enthusiastic and already flirting with the idea of registering early for the next WISKA Business Cup.

Outside the box thinking: The new junction boxes by WISKA

15.03.2018

Trade and industry supplier WISKA presents its new highlights in installa-tion material at this year´s Light + Building in Frankfurt.

This year WISKA have focused on their newly developed junction box range. WISKA has added two new sizes to its popular COMBI series and the WISKA installation box has receieved a total make-over.

„The new COMBI boxes come with the proven quality of the series, that is characterised by its UV- and ozone resistance“, explains Stefan Stange-Düsterhöft, electrical wholesale and trade sales manager at WISKA.

Just push the cable through the soft membrane and it is automatically sealed with IP66 protection – that is how easy the installation with the new COMBI 116 is. Twice the size as the already established COMBI 108 it offers greater installation space and flexibility.

The new COMBI 206 measures 85x49 centimeters and has a space-saving rectangular form. This makes it perfect for outside applications and LED luminaires. Six threaded membrane entries help create maxi-mum flexibility.

When developing the new installation boxes WISKA has taken into consideration the everyday needs of electricians at work. The new WISKA installation boxes offer comprehensive fixing options: whether with cable ties, screws and dowels or with various fixing elements. Furthermore the lid can be fitted tightly without use of a tool or screws.

“The new installation boxes is a continued development of the popular KA series which WISKA initially developed over 80 years ago. For the relaunch we have spoken with electricians about what is important for them. The results have been considered in the development.”, says Stefan Stange-Düsterhöft.

Master-piece out of plastic: German industrial supplier launches new cable protection system

18.10.2017

Industry, trade and shipbuilding supplier WISKA is expanding its product range to solidify its position as a full-range supplier in the field of cable entries with a new development in cable protection: a fitting for non-metallic conduits called BraceFITTING.

"By now, users had to make sure that the correct fittings were used in accordance with the applicable protection requirements. Our new system, however, has been designed for IP68 from the go. Thereby the product always offers the highest protection standard for every conceivable application, while this also helps with storage as only one single fully assembled component has to be kept in stock", explained Lars Wiemann-Laasner, Business Development Manager Industry at WISKA.

In addition to providing comprehensive protection, the product allows significant time savings during assembly and maintenance. The fastening section of the BraceFITTING is designed in such a way that it directly grips into the conduit and can be opened and closed again using a standard tool in just a few seconds. The sealing ring is connected directly to the product by two component injection moulding. This ensures perfect sealing properties and guarantees that the ring cannot be lost during assembly.

The idea of supplementing the existing product portfolio of cable glands and a cable entry system with cable protection was clear and obvious to Lars Wiemann-Laasner. "We strive to provide our customers with comprehensive solutions in the field of cable protection. As a supplier with many years of experience in plastics processing, it was merely the next logical step to have this knowledge influence the development of the new product."

In addition to the BraceFITTING, the company based near Hamburg also supplies the corresponding non-metallic conduits and the metallic range of fittings and conduits. The range is rounded off by braided and woven sleeves for comprehensive protection.

HERE you can find further information about our Brace® cable protection system and technical details.

WISKA is showcasing its new cable protection range Brace® live at SPS IPC Drives exhibition in Nuremberg, 28 to 30 November, hall 5, stand 445.

The Hamburger SV (HSV) can once again look forward to a sponsorship from WISKA during the season 2017/18. The company is a supplier to diverse industries, trade and shipbuilding and has extended its partnership as sponsor of the long-established German Bundesliga football team. Furthermore, WISKA is also one of the first companies to get involved in HSV’s newly formed association for young talents.

‘The fact that WISKA is continuing to sponsor the HSV demonstrates great trust in the partnership. As a sponsor of our junior teams, our partner is now also getting involved in the vocational and advanced training of our young football players. There isn’t enough praise that can be said for this commitment,” said HSV CEO Heribert Bruchhagen, commending the further collaboration.

‘With its newly built campus, the HSV has established an intensive training centre in which young talents have the opportunity to launch their careers in professional sports. As a family-run company, we know how important this support is. Young people need an opportunity to prove themselves. This is a very good way to build a bridge into the future. That’s why we expanded our partnership to include sponsoring young talents,’ said WISKA general manager Ronald Hoppmann, who leads the company in its third generation together with his sister Tanja Hoppmann.

The head of the youth training centre, Dr. Dieter Gudel, is also pleased about the new sponsor’s involvement: ‘We are very happy to have gotten WISKA on board as a dedicated partner for our youth training centre. We believe that people should always have more than one option – a leg to stand on and a leg to kick with. It’s important to give our young players deep insights into another working environment. In this regard, WISKA is an important sponsor.’

Supporting young people has always been extremely important to WISKA – which is demonstrated by the company’s vocational trainee to employee ratio of 10 %. In addition to providing young people with comprehensive vocational training, a focus is also on self-responsibility. From internal projects to representing the company at established trade fairs – at WISKA, vocational trainees learn what it means to play an active role in shaping the company and to assume responsibility.

‘People still learn best from their own experiences,’ said Ronald Hoppmann, and added: ‘Our experience is that vocational trainees are particularly happy here. After all, over 15 % of our employees are former trainees.’

Twin-shot competence by WISKA: Cable glands rethought and grommets with strain relief for multiple cables

12.04.2017

On the Hannover Messe two novelties are awaiting the visitors on the WISKA fair stand. Both benefit from the long standing expertise in twin-shot moulding.

The cable gland MARATHON convinces with its new design and elevated strain relief according to category B (EN 62444). This has been realized by separating the sealing from the strain relief function.

The new MultiCLIXX combines the advantages of existing grommets by WISKA: Customers can insert up to four cables via the soft membrane component at a minimum of time. Strain relief is accomplished by the intelligent grommet construction.

With the introduction of the Brace cable protection system and the cable entry system CONMAXX in the last year WISKA now offers its customers all cable entry solutions from its own production, including the proven cable gland range.

Besides the product news the focus on the fair is getting to know customers and partners better and deepening the business relation. “A good relationship is based on knowing each other. For good business relations this is extremely important as well as a trust basis”, says Ronald Hoppmann, General Manager of WISKA.

This keynote is also reflected in the communication of WISKA and the fair stand which focuses on relationships. Coffee house elements such as furnishings, a coffee bar and a bench invite to linger and have good talks to get to know each other.

„We are convinced that good business works like that. Fist get to know each other and then talk about our customer´s needs and ours products. “, adds Hoppmann.

The fair stand of WISKA on the Hannover Messe can be found in Hall 13, Stand C76.

WISKA presents cable entry highlights of 2016 at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg

25.10.2016

WISKA, the expert for cable glands, has been expanding its product range of cable entry solutions in 2016. In addition to the tried and tested cable glands in polyamide, brass and stainless steel WISKA now offers two entirely new product lines: the cable protection system Brace and the modular cable entry system CONMAXX. Furthermore the supplier for industry and shipbuilding from Kaltenkirchen has introduced the ShotGLAND series, a gland for extreme temperature environment as well as new venting pressure equalization elements.

At the SPS, Europe’s leading exhibition for electric automation, WISKA presents all these product highlights and its extended range in cable entry to the professional public.

The Brace system is brand new. Heart of the new product line is the BraceGLAND, an innovative non-metallic fitting, developed and produced in-house at WISKA´s headquarters in Kaltenkirchen, North of Hamburg. Thanks to its 360° clasp mechanism, this product is safe to install and has a high integrated strain relief for reliable protection, e.g. against heavy vibration. Furthermore the large sealing area means that no special cutting tool for the conduit is needed. At the same time the high IP protection class reliably ensures that no dust and water can enter. Alongside the innovative non-metallic fitting, WISKA offers an extensive cable protection portfolio of premium non-metallic conduits, as well as sleeves. The development of the WISKA cable protection system was rated as especially innovative by the federal state of Schleswig Holstein and is therefore financially supported with means of the ERDF.

With CONMAXX, WISKA presents a modular cable entry system especially well adapted for cabinet applications and electrical housings at InnoTrans. CONMAXX consists of three components: Frame, grid inserts and conical sealing elements. The three components can be compiled individually according to requirement and application. This way, the entry system can be assembled from the inside out. Therefore even subsequent, individual changes to the wiring are no problem due to the optional split sealing elements and the closed frame. With 100 different seals, four frame sizes and four grid inserts, CONMAXX enables an extremely flexible and individual electrical installation.

The ShotGLAND cable gland series from WISKA is one of the flattest cable glands on the market. With silicone sealing, the LT version of the ShotGLAND can be used in temperatures ranging from -60 °C to 180 °C.

SPS IPC Drives will take place from 22 to 24 November 2016. WISKA is located in Hall 5, Stand 445.

New signing meets new products: HSV new signing Alen Halilović on the WISKA stand at SMM

07.09.2016

“He made a great impression on me when I watched his first match against Zwickau”, said WISKA managing director Ronald Hoppmann, himself a big HSV fan. “What I noticed about Halilović is that the man enjoys his job. That’s a character trait which will help you go far in life,” added Hoppmann.

The 20-year old Halilović sees it the same way. On the question of how important it was for him as a professional sportsman to enjoy his job, he replied: “It is very important. If you do not enjoy it, you do not improve.”

As official supplier to Hamburger SV, WISKA took the initiative to provide a surprise for visitors to the stand and invited the HSV player. And it went down well! Many visitors used the opportunity to get an autograph from the HSV pro at the WISKA stand.

Along with its HSV news, WISKA presented its in-house innovations for hazardous areas, camera surveillance, LED and reefer container socket on the trade fair.

WISKA lights up a Hamburg landmark

06.09.2016

Using high-power searchlights, WISKA shines the spotlight on the Hamburg Television Tower at SMM, the leading international marine trade fair.

At SMM in Hamburg, WISKA was not only exhibiting in the trade fair halls, but was also carrying out a very special project together with Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (HMC): Four stainless-steel halogen metal vapour searchlights, normally used in container shipping, have been mounted on a ten-foot container in front of the main entrance of the fairgrounds. To mark the occasion of the SMM, they illuminated the Hamburg Television Tower and the trade fair entrance throughout the trade fair from 6 – 9 September. Along with St. Michael’s Church, the TV tower is one of the most prominent landmarks in the Hanseatic city. “The idea came about last winter at one of the many international trade fairs at which WISKA also exhibited its own searchlights on a joint stand with us”, recalls Claus Ulrich Selbach, business unit director at HMC. “We are very pleased that our idea has now become reality.” Ronald Hoppmann, WISKA managing director added: “Normally our searchlights sail the seven seas, but to light up the Hamburg Television Tower – that’s both an honour and something that is very close to our hearts.”

The Heinrich Hertz Tower, which was opened in 1968 and is located next to the Hamburg trade fair centre, was for decades one of the biggest attractions of the city. Its observation platform and panoramic restaurant offered a spectacular view over the Alster and Elbe. Since 2001, however, the tower has been mothballed and can no longer be entered. Despite this, the love of the people of Hamburg for their TV tower has not diminished with the closure of the platform.

The Kaltenkirchen-based company WISKA also showed its affection for the Heinrich Hertz Tower with the lighting installation at SMM 2016. With its searchlights, the company ensured that one of the most important Hamburg landmarks once again shone for four days in all its former glory.
